Fort St. John going to the dogs

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Fort St. John could be getting a lot more friendly for the four legged kind soon. After noticing a lack of off leash areas in the city, Amanda Wilms and some of her friends have decided to take action, and are planning to ask the City to help them create a dog park.

The proposed park, which will go in front of City Council in September, would be a large area where both large and small dogs would be able to socialize with one another both on and off leash, with room to run and play. The park would also serve as an educational area for the public as well, giving them the opportunity to learn about dog behaviours and what is right and wrong, and how to deal with dogs in general, not to mention an area for people to meet and relax with their canine friends.

With plans still in early stages, Wilms is hoping that the community will get involved, with suggestions about possible locations, sizes, and what might actually go in the park.
