UPDATE – The City posted the following message on Facebook at about 8pm – We continue to have vacuum trucks and crews working in various areas around the City. We have had some reports of flooded basements and sewer backups – please limit the use of water if possible. Thanks again!

Almost exactly one year later, Fort St. John was hit with another sudden downpour.

Friday evening, heavy rain hit the community at around 5 p.m. And started to flood several streets and properties. Immediately the RCMP and City Crews started to block off streets and work to clear the giant puddles that and formed.

The City is still asking people not to drive through the large puddles as that could cause more damage to homes and businesses that are on those streets.

The City has also asked that if anyone has photos of flooding to email info@fortstjohn.ca with the location and time of the photos. The City will then use that information to help compile records of the event for the Provincial Emergency Program.

If you spot any area in the City that has been flooding, contact City Hall at 311.

One of the worst flash floods in the communities history hit Fort St. John on Thursday July 29, 2010. The storm caused massive flooding throughout the community. For a look back at that storm, click here.
