City to learn about hazardous material disposal
Â
Fort St. John is about to receive an education in conservation and sustainability.
On Monday July 18, two members of the British Columbia Used Oil Management Association (BCUOMA) will be visiting Fort St. John to promote the recycling of used oil and antifreeze products.
The two BCUOMA ambassadors will arrive in Fort St. John at approximately noon and will spend the afternoon visiting various businesses around the city who dispose of both oil and antifreeze. The team will provide informative consultations to employees as well as to the general public in attendance.
Local businesses that will be visited include Finning, Newalta, Fort City Chrysler, Co-Op Bulk Centre, Gerry Rude Agri-Sales, Kal Tire, Rapid Lube and Wash, Smithfield Services and Hazco.
The visit is part of a unique recovery initiative, where a team of two BCUOMA members canvas the province promoting the proper disposal of used oil materials.
The tour is designed to help educate the province about keeping hazardous materials out of our waterways and landfills. It will also introduce new antifreeze and antifreeze container recycling programs, which were launched on July 1.
For more information on the BCUOMA and for a list of provincial collection facilities, please visit the BCUOMA official website.
