UPDATE 3 – It is now being said that the estimated time of reopening will be Wednesday, July 13, 12:00am although this is with low confidence. Check this link on DriveBC.ca after 10pm for another update.
UPDATE 2 – As of 8:30pm the road block was still in place and the flag person said there is no known time of reopening the highway. Drivers are advised to be aware of the road block and to take the detour right away to aviod getting stopped.
UPDATE – Drivebc.ca says there is a detour using the 256 road and the Beatton Park road also known as the 271 road.
The Alaska Highway is closed at Mile 62 after a serious collision.
The RCMP haven’t released a lot of information about the incident, but have confirmed two vehicles were involved in the collision.
The RCMP expect the road will be closed for most of the evening. The collision occurred just before 6 p.m., Tuesday.
We believe there isn’t a detour around the accident scene using Highway 97.
