The Peace River Regional District has cancelled an evacuation alert for issued for the communities of Gundy, Tupper, Tomslake, One Island Lake and Kelly Lake in Electoral Area “D”. It has also cancelled the State of Local Emergency for Electoral Area “E”.

The alert had been issued last Thursday after Environment Canada had issued a rainfall warning for much of the Peace and the B.C. River Forecast Centre had issued a High Streamflow Advisory.

Some areas around the Peace had been expected to receive between 80 and 115 millimetres of rain.

Regional District officials say the alert was cancelled since the area no longer requires immediate action to ensure residents’ health and safety or protection of property.

The PRRD will continue to monitor conditions around the Peace and will post updates to its‘ website.
