Local slow-pitch teams will be getting the chance to compete in a tournament-style competition.

The first-ever F.A.I.T Poker Slow-pitch Tournament will be held on July 9 and 10 at the Surrerus Diamonds.

Teams must be co-ed and require 10 participants, six males and four females. The tournament is round robin style and every team is guaranteed five games. The tournament has also enlisted the services of a certified umpire.

The event will also include an element of poker, where the winning team from each game will receive two playing cards, while the losers receive one. After the five games have concluded, each team will combine all their earned playing cards, in hopes of creating the best poker hand. Poker hands can then be used to win a variety of prizes.

The entry fee for the tournament is $350 per team and entry forms must be submitted by July 6. Proceeds from the tournament will be donated to a local kids sport organization.

So far, this is the only booked slow-pitch tournament to participate in this summer, other than the league playoffs, which are scheduled for August.
