Second set of remains identified
Â
The Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office says DNA tests have confirmed the second set of human remains discovered last month near Grande Prairie is that of 16 year-old Krystle Ann Julie Knott.
Knott disappeared with her friend Rene Lynn Gunning of Fort St. John, whose remains were also found in Grande Prairie and had earlier been identified through dental records.
The two went missing on February 18, 2005. The two young women were reportedly last seen alive by friends at the West Edmonton Mall before leaving to hitchhike back to their home communities in the B.C. Peace.
Their deaths are considered suspicious and police are continuing their investigation, led by Project KARE.
Anyone with information about Gunning or Knott’s activities in February 2005 is asked to contact the KARE tip line at 1-877-412-5273 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477
