Rural residents required to pay taxes on time

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Everyone is required to pay their taxes, despite the ongoing postal strike.

That’s the message to property owners and specifically rural property owners.

The Province says rural property owners will face penalties and interest charges if their taxes are not received by July 4.

It also says any applications for home owner grants, and application and renewals for property tax deferment, must be completed by the same date.

Payments can be made in person at most banks and credit unions or via internet or telephone banking. As well, residents can make payments in person or by courier to their local Service BC Centre.

Any rural property owner who has not received a tax notice by mid-June is asked to contact the closest Service BC Centre or contact the Surveyor of Taxes office at 250-387-0555.
