Local high school gets funding for solar panels
North Peace Secondary School is going to shine after receiving a $20,000 SolarBC grant.
The money will be used to purchase solar panels for the school. Solar energy is expected to become an important part of the school’s curriculum as students will help determine the best location for the panels.
Students will also be involved in taking daily readings on the amount of power produced.
Those readings will be used to determine greenhouse gas emissions and energy savings and should assist the school to move towards a cleaner and greener future.
NPSS is one of 11 schools across the province receiving a $20,000 grant. The money comes from the Province’s $5 million investment in the SolarBC program to encourage solar energy growth across the province.
