Dedication paying off for local dancer

A local dancer is being rewarded for years of hard work and determination.

Keily Stewart, a Fort St. John resident and performing arts fanatic who dances out of the Move Dance Centre, haswon first place in the Stage 1 Category of the 2011 Provincial Festival of Performing Arts B.C. which took place on June 5-9 in Kamloops.

Stewart, performed her Lyrical Solo “Ordinary Music”, choreographed by Ashley Campbell of Move Dance Studio, which earned her one of three finalist spots.

Keily would later fulfill a life-long goal of winning gold, when she performed her Jazz Solo “Bang She Shot Me.”

On July 1, Keily will head to Winnipeg, MB. having once again been accepted to train for a month at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Professional Summer Program.

This will be Stewart’s second time in two years to enroll in the summer program.
