Fort St. John Fire Fighters and officials from PNG were called to a gas leak near 102 avenue in Fort St. John Monday night.

The leak was reported shortly after 7:30 p.m. by a resident several blocks east of the Fort St. John Medical Clinic who could smell the gas.

PNG crews and Fire Fighters quickly investigated and discovered the leak was coming from the construction site behind the Catholic Church on 100 avenue.

Residents in the area were notified of the leak and the area directly around the leak was closed off to local traffic.

Captain Morgan with the Fort St. John Fire Department says once the leak has been stopped PNG and the Fire Department will investigate just what caused the leak.
