The first of a province wide series of town hall public forums on the Harmonized Sales Tax is set for 7.30 tonight at the Northern Lights College Campus in Dawson Creek.
Local area residents are again reminded they will also get the opportunity, to participate, through video-conferencing, in room 101, at the main campus building, of the College in Fort St. John.
The forum is the only one in the series, scheduled for this region, in advance of this summer’s referendum on the controversial tax.
The government is looking for suggestions on how the tax could be improved, as it and the Smart Tax Alliance, continue to promote it.
On the flip side of the argument is the Fight HST movement, still fighting to kill the blended sales tax, and return to the previous PST, with the same exemptions as before.
It will hold a public forum in Fort St. John tomorrow night, also beginning at 7.30, at the Lido Theatre.
Registered BC voters are scheduled to start receiving ballots for the mail-in referendum on June 13th, but it’s expected to be early August before the results are known.
