The Grande Prairie RCMP are investigating human remains which were found by a camper Saturday night.

The RCMP state the remains were found 60km south of Grande Prairie on the Forestry Trunk Road. The remains were found by an individual camping in the area who then contacted the RCMP at about 6:15pm Saturday May 21.

RCMP resources from the detachment in Grande Prairie and the Forensic Identification Section will spend several days in the area where the remains were found. Police also believe it will take several days to determine the identity of the person found.

At this time, the RCMP can’t say how long the investigation will take and have not released any further information.
