Fort Nelson to host oil and gas conference

Fort Nelson is set to be the host of a major conference on natural resources.

From Sept. 7-9, the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality will be hosting the 2011 B.C. Oil & Gas Conference.

This year, the conference is being developed with the theme “Communities Leading Change”, featuring a community perspective on the oil and gas industry. The conference will include presentations by key industry stakeholders, elected and government officials and local first nations.

Fort Nelson Mayor Bill Steeper says “this year’s Oil & Gas Conference will raise the bar. Our aim is to provide information and opportunities that appeal to everyone from the Vice-President to the guys on the ground here in Fort Nelson.”

The conference has been designed to showcase Fort Nelson’s community spirit.
Conference attendees will also be receiving a close and personal look at the new Northern Rockies Regional Recreation Centre, which will have celebrated is grand opening only a week prior.
