With only 54 of 220 polls reporting results, Conservative candidate Bob Zimmer has been declared the official winner in the Prince George-Peace River riding.
Zimmer has led the way throughout most of the election night and beating out NDP candidate Lois Boone.
He was officially elected as the Conservative candidate in mid March and replaces Jay Hill as MP for the riding after Hill resigned on Oct. 25, after 17 years in office.
Despite running for federal politics for the first time, Zimmer is no stranger to elections, having been involved with politics since 1987 and even working on at least one of Jay Hill’s previous campaigns.
The official final results will be posted shortly.
