The Dawson Creek Fire Department has finished its investigation of the massive fire that all but destroyed a landmark building in the city.

Investigators have determined the fire was caused by an electrical component in the office of the Wildcat Video store, says Fire Chief Gordon "Shorty" Smith.

Smith says there were two or three computers, along with a printer and an external hard drive all in one area of the office, which may have caused one of them to short out and lead to the fire.

The fire raged for several hours at the building on 10 St. and 103 Ave. last Wednesday before firefighters were able to get it under control.

No one was hurt in the fire and Smith says the next step is for the insurance companies to take care of the cleanup of the site.
