School hosting social media awareness presentation

On Monday, Jesse Miller of Mediated Reality will be hosting a presentation on social networking at Bert Bowes Middle School.

Miller’s presentation will focus on social media awareness, on topics such as Facebook and the reasons people use social media. The main presentation will target parents and will begin at 7 p.m.

He will also deal with issues surrounding using pictures on the Internet and how to ensure privacy and appropriateness.

Human behavior issues will also be discussed in Miller’s presentation, explaining how people can form opinions about someone based on that person’s social media profile. Miller says people should be aware of the pictures they post on the Internet, since future employers or schools could access them.

He says that people can learn a great deal about people from their social media profiles and wants to educate people about these facts so they are aware of how they are being portrayed.

An additional presentation will also be held for both middle and high school students during regular school hours.

The presentation is free of charge and is a great opportunity for parents to gain a better grasp on social networking.
