The Fort St. John Tracker Flyers will finish off their championship series with the St. Albert Blues in front of their home crowd.
After playing the first three games of the NAMHL finals in St. Albert, the Tracker Flyers and the Blues will play the final two games of the best-of-five series in Fort St. John. The Tracker Flyers will be returning home down two games to one and will have to win both games in front of their home crowd in order to be crowned league champions.
The championship series began Friday April 1, with the Flyers suffering a 4-0 loss at the hands of the Blues. The loss was the first post season loss the Tracker Flyers had experienced during their entire 2011 playoff run.
The taste of defeat seemed to have motivated the Flyers, who stormed back in game two on Saturday, beating the Blues 4-3.
With the championship tied at one game each, it would be the Blues who would re-take the series lead on Sunday, beating the Flyers by the same 4-3 score they lost by the previous game.
The Tracker Flyers and Blues will now play the remaining games in Fort St. John, with the Flyers now facing a must win situation in both games. A Fort St. John loss would result in the Blues earning the title of league champions.
Game four and five (if necessary), will take place at the Fort St. John North Peace Arena. Game four will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday April 9 and game five is scheduled to take place Sunday, April 10 at 12:30 p.m.
