Province welcomes new Premier
Christy Clark is officially the new premier of British Columbia.
At roughly 1:30 p.m. Mountain Time, Clark was sworn in at the Government House in Victoria as the provinces new Premier. After the ceremony was complete, Premier Clark announced plans for a new, smaller cabinet, which will focus on putting families first, creating jobs and changing the way citizens of the province interact with their government.
Some notable names that relate to Fort St. John include the new Minister of Energy and Mines, the honourable Rich Coleman and the new Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, the honourable Blair Lekstrom.
Patt Pimm continues his duties as Secretary for Natural Gas to the Minister of Energy and Mines.
Today’s ceremonies were the first time the event was streamed live over the internet, which Permier Clark mentioned, was part of her new plan to create innovative ways for public involvement in the political process.
