UPDATE Fort St. John Fire Chief Fred Burrows says the fire began in large, plywood recycle bin near the rear entrance of the school close to the gym and the daycare.

Burrows says when the first fire crew arrived at the scene there were visible flames and a lot of smoke that filled parts of the lower level of the school.

Although he says they do no know how the fire started exactly, it did begin near an entrance where people have smoked.
