The Fort St. John Huskies dropped their third game in a row losing 5-1 to the North Peace Navigators in Peace River.
The game started out as a defensive battle as the first period was scoreless. Both teams exchanged chances, but were unable to solve each other's goaltenders. The game was physical as both teams exchanged a number of big body checks throughout the period.
It was in the second period where things started to open up. The Huskies struck first as Connor Rose was able to get a wrist shot through from the point that beat the Navigators goalie and give the Huskies a 1-0 lead at the 11:02 mark. The Navigators were able to answer right back with two quick goals just a over a minute apart to build a 2-1 lead. Both goals were scored of costly turnovers by the Huskies defense.
It was in the third period where the wheels really began to fall off. The Navigators scored three goals in the period as frustration began to set in for the Huskies. The final score of the game was 5-1. The Huskies began the season 4-0, but with those three losses now sit at 4-3 with a tough matchup against Grande Prairie on Sunday.
Face off for the game is 2pm at the North Peace Arena.
