Students shine at NLC

As Northern Lights College prepares to celebrate its 35th anniversary this year, the college is preparing a time capsule and celebrating various honour students.

The time capsule is going to be opened at its 50th anniversary in 2025.

It will include items from municipalities and aboriginal groups in Northern B.C.

As well, more than 170 students at the college have been put on the 2009-2010 Honour List.

Students on the list have achieved a GPA of at least 3.67 in academic programs, or at least 90 per cent in vocational programs. The achievement is listed on each individual student’s record.

Furthermore, one of the college’s students has received the Minerva Foundation for B.C. Women Award.

The award, given to Laurelle Dettieh, was created to assist the Province’s aboriginal women in continuing their education. The student in the Oil and Gas Field Operators program received the award earlier this year.
