Missing Sox vow to play out season

The Paladin Black Sox seem determined to keep swinging through the end of the summer.

After a lack of players forced the Sox to forfeit their past two matchups, the team was encouraged by Wheatbelt League Commissioner Dave Allan on Wednesday to try and finish out the season.

It’s a far-cry from the Black Sox team that won the Wheatbelt Championship in 2008. But, since that time, several of the team’s key players, like Dan Pappin, have moved on to other things. This year, the Sox have been hit hard by the ‘work-bug’, with a number of guys (including Ace pitcher Ryan Stickel) having to head to work instead of the diamond.

The Black Sox are next scheduled to play on Saturday (June 26th), when they host the Peace River Stampeders for a double header (12 & 4 p.m. @ Kin Park #9). After that, the Sox have only four games remaining in the regular season.
