The Northern Environmental Action Team is working with the Peace River Regional District, on a new initiative to facilitate the local area disposal of construction and demolition waste.
Â
At the moment materials…like wood waste, dry wall and concrete…go to the local landfill in large volumes, but there is no available regional facility to which they can be transfered for recycling.
It is hoped to create a working group of all the stakeholders involved in the local area construction/demolition process, and to find some way to effectively divert these materials.
Jeff Rahn, the Manager of Solid Waste Services for the Regional District, will be responsible for creating the project working group.
He’s looking for participation and input from all members of the community, who feel they have a vested interest.
