Concerns about the operational direction of the local airport were front and centre today on Issues and Answers.

Kevin called landing fees a short term burst of income, that subsequently result in aviation business being siphoned away from facilities which apply them.
He says there’s already evidence of that occurring in this region…

He adds the ultimate concern is that landing fees at the Fort St. John airport are already at the high end of the regional scale.
In addition he says, in Grande Prairie, where the rates are already lower than in Fort St. John, consideration is now being given to a fee reduction.
