A small goal led to huge financial rewards for the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation.

Six months ago, Tom Sparrow said he would raise $5,000 for the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation, and then compete in the BMO Vancouver Marathon.

Sparrow is the Project Director for the new Fort St. John hospital.

But, the goal snowballed and Sparrow recruited 19 people to compete as “Team Fort St. John” in the marathon, and raise money for the foundation. The team approached companies working on the new hospital project, and Acciona and Stuart Olsen, donated $5,000 each.

In total, the team raised more than $22,000 for the local foundation.

All of the funds will go into the Endowment Fund, which is a legacy fund that collects interest, so that the money could be used to purchase equipment in the future.
