Lido to roll out red carpet

Stage North is giving Fort St. John residents a taste of Hollywood for a night.

The local theatre group is hosting an ‘Oscar Night on the Big Screen’ party on March 7th, to celebrate and watch the 82nd Academy Awards.

Part-Time Executive Director Sue Popesku says it’s the perfect time to get dolled-up and go out.

She says there’s even going to be paparazzi snapping pictures on the red carpet, to make the experience a little more authentic.

The goal this year is to raise $4,000, which will be used to search for a new facility for Stage North to work out of. The organization will be forced to move out of its current building by the end of April, and is frantically searching for an appropriate space.

Popesku says there’s going to be food, live entertainment during intermissions, and door prizes awarded throughout the night.

Tickets are $20 in advance, and are available at the Lido Theatre and the Visitor Information Centre.

The red carpet will be rolled out at 6:00 p.m. on March 7th.
