Denny Morrison and the Canadian men’s pursuit team will skate for gold on Saturday, after a strong showing in their two races on Friday.
Canada set a new Olympic record of 3:42.38, in its quarterfinal win over Italy, before breaking that record, with a time of 3:42.22, in a semi final win over Norway.
The United States beat the favoured Netherlands team in the other semi final, meaning Canada will face the US for gold on Saturday, at 12:51 Pacific Time.
While the Canadian men are now guaranteed at least a silver medal, the women’s team will go home empty handed, after losing by 5 100ths of a second, in its quarterfinal against the USA.
