The province has provided B.C. municipalities with almost $16 million in funding.

The grants-in-lieu of property taxes are an annual way Victoria compensates municipalities for the local services they provide to government properties.   The services include roads and sewers, as well as fire protection.

This year, the Provincial government is distributing $15.9 million to 63 municipalities across the province.
