This holiday season, all of our Supporters are entered to win an $800 Shopping Spree Giveaway!

There’s still time to participate in the Fort St. John “Paw’s for a Cause” event on Saturday the 12th.

Local S-P-C-A Branch Manager Rosolynn Kalb says the organization is asking for a 20 dollar donation in order to participate.

Now, the SPCA has been organizing similar walks before “Paws for a Cause” came to light.

But, Kalb says the organization merged with Provincial-wide fundraiser in the recent years.

Last year, the organization raised $15,000. However, organizers lowered the goal to $10,000 this year because of the ailing economy.

Kalb says all the money is donated to the local SPCA. The fundraiser makes up a large chunk of the organizations $200,000 budget.

The SPCA receives no government funding, and relies on donations to get by.

Now, registration begins at Centennial Park at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, and the walk will begin at 1:00 p.m. The walk takes participants to the North Peace Care Home and back to the park.
