At approximately 6pm Alberta time a strong gust of wind knocked over the main stage at Big Valley Jamboree in Camrose.

Camrose Police have confirmed that one person is dead and 15 people are critical or seriously injured.  Staff from Moose FM in Fort St. John who were at the festival, report that the wind and rain has caused a lot of damage to the site of BVJ.

Country singer Billy Curington was performing when the wind started and the stage collapsed.

All the staff from Moose FM are okay and if you have any information about other people from the BC Peace Region that made the trip e-mail
