World Gold Panning Championships this weekend in Taylor
The District of Taylor will celebrate gold this weekend.
The 37th World Invitation Gold Panning event will take place Saturday and Sunday in the district, with the majority of the events at Peace Island Park.
Top level competitors from all over the world will be in the district to battle it out for the Class “A” Championship Trophy. Class “A” panners will compete in three tests designed to measure speed panning, skill panning and fine gold panning. Based on an aggregate point system, panners are assessed penalty points for losing flakes and time.
The weekend also features activities for the entire family, with an Arts & Crafts Fair, children’s games and activities, steak barbecue, pancake breakfast, horseshoes and more. You can also try your hand at gold panning as lessons will be available.
The entire event starts Saturday with the Parade through Taylor at 10am. See below for a full schedule of events.
