This holiday season, all of our Supporters are entered to win an $800 Shopping Spree Giveaway!

Due to hot and dry weather over the week and lightning in the last two  days, there have been multiple fires throughout the region.

Forest service crews have responded to eight new lightning-caused fires over the past two days and more starts are expected today. The largest of the fires is six hectares, while the other seven remain less than one hectare in size.

Crews have also responded to a number of abandoned campfires in the past week. With the increase in naturally occurring fires it is imperative that the public abide with all bans across the region. This will allow resources to be utilized for unpreventable lightning-caused fires.

The fire danger rating is high to extreme across the Prince George Fire Centre. The heat wave continues to dominate through the fire centre with afternoon and nocturnal lightning forecasted.

To report a wildfire or unattended campfire call 1-800-663-5555 or *5555 on most cellular networks. For more information on open fire restrictions or for updates on current wildfire activity, visit
