A proposed liquefied natural gas terminal in Kitimat, BC, has inked its first supplier.

Texas-based EOG Resources has signed a memorandum of understanding with Kitimat LNG to provide natural gas to the planned facility.

EOG, which has holdings in the Horn River basin near Fort Nelson, is the first producer for the Kitimat operation — which already has Korean and Spanish customers waiting for the liquefied natural gas.

Environmental groups fear the Kitimat terminal will mean supertankers will soon be travelling along the B-C coast, ending a lengthy moratorium on tanker traffic in the region.
