A newly formed alliance says it will help ensure the Enbridge Northern Gateway Project becomes a reality for communities in northern BC and Alberta.
Northern Gateway Alliance is composed of a coalition of community leaders who generate support for the project and the benefits it will bring to northern communities.
To date the group has already signed over 100 members with a goal of 500 members over the next several months.
In a news release, former Mayor of Prince George and Chair of the Northern Gateway Alliance, Colin Kinsley said the project represents untold new opportunities for both aboriginal and non-aboriginal communities while adhering to the highest standards and best environmental practices.
Meanwhile, Kitimat Mayor Joanne Monaghan said the economic benefits are not only good for Kitimat but for the entire region.
She said business opportunities for existing and new businesses along with increased education and training is something Kitimat fully supports.
Northern Gateway Alliance said it’s reaching out to northern residents, businesses, unions and community groups to talk about the benefits of the project.
The goal is to build its support base and ultimately make this project a reality. For more information on the Enbridge Northern Gateway Project, or the Northern Gateway Alliance, visit, www.northerngatewayalliance.ca
