Support Fort St John News

The Knights first game was against Vanderhoof  and began with a strong, aggressive first period as Fort St. John scored four times.  Goals were scored by Cayle Bell, Logan Daneluk, Dallas Trim and Blair Karasiuk.  Assists were given by Karasiuk, Haydn Mohr and Daneluk.  The Flyers slowed their momentum in the second period and suffered three unanswered goals by the opposition,  closing the gap 4-3 in favor of the Knights.  Shane Rutherford  scored at 19:32 in the third, assisted by Karasiuk. Karasiuk scored at 3:47, assisted by Daneluk ending the game at 6-3 for FSJ.  Goalie, Turner Gullickson, had a strong game, stifling the opposition many times.
The second game was against the Grande Prairie Chiefs and ended in a 2-0 loss for the Knights of Columbus establishing a challenge to our home team to win a playoff spot for first or second place.  The third game, against the Dawson Creek Junior Canucks, was a hard fought battle.  Kyle Leonard scored with a goal at 17:47 in the first period.  The Canucks came back with three unanswered goals putting the Flyers behind 3-1 at the end of the first. The Knights responded in the second period with two goals from Bell and one from Daneluk putting Fort St. John up by one goal 4-3. The third period produced two more goals.  Jade McMullin scored at 14:28, assisted by Wyatt Anderson.  McMullin scored again at 11:35.  The game ended with a 6-5 victory and a  playoff spot against the Grande Prairie Chiefs.
In an exciting final game against the Grande Prairie Chiefs, the Knights of Columbus AA bantam Flyers showed their mettle as they established a presence against the Chiefs, not allowing them to gain momentum throughout the game. After a scoreless first period, Jade McMullin put the puck between the pipes at 12:36 in the second period, assisted by Tyler Cresswell.  Logan Daneluk scored at 3:46, assisted by Cayle Bell.  The Chiefs gained a point at 14:45 in the third and the Knights responded with a goal from Wyatt Anderson, assisted by Karasiuk and Daneluk.  Dallas Trim added the final goal, assisted by Bell and Cresswell.  The game ended with a 4-1 first place finish for the Knights of Columbus.  Goalie, Daimon Derioun had an excellent game stopping 26/27 shots.  The Flyers outshot the Chiefs 31 to 27.  Their penalty kills were 5/5 and one goal was scored on 1/7 powerplays.
The Knights of Columbus AA bantam Flyers will play against the Dawson Creek Junior Canucks on February 22 in Dawson Creek (Kin arena).  Start time is 1:00pm.
