2008 Oil & Gas Rights a record 2.66 Billion

Mark the 2008 calendar year a record, for the sale and oil and gas rights in BC, 2.66 billion dollars.

It follows a rather modest December sale yesterday, at least by this year’s standards, of 91.7 million in bonus bids. 44 of the 56 parcels offered, covering more than 60 thousand hectares, were sold, putting the per hectare price tag at $1,512 dollars.

That’s less than half of the previous eleven month average but, a lease parcel located beside the Sunset Prairie Field, about 30 kilometers south of Fort St. John broke two records set in July. It fetched a per hectare price, of $28,900 dollars and also, a tender bonus of 7.65 million dollars.
