Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

We have an unofficial report of a large wind driven overnight fire south of Fort St. John.

It says both the Fort St. John and Charlie Lake Fire Departments were called out to battle the blaze, which reportedly stretched from the lagoons south of the city, to the "point" and then, nearly to the Old Fort Road, where it runs along the Peace River.

It’s believed the fire started about 6:30 last night and, there’s speculation it may have been the result of youngsters lighting tires on fire and then, rolling them down a hill.

Meantime, the BC Hydro website, still shows 196 customers south of the 256 road and, west of the 277 road, without power.

They lost service early in the noon hour on Wednesday, when the strong westerly winds brought down a tree, across power lines.

It was one of several such incidents which reportedly impacted about 15 hundred Hydro customers but, this is the only area still reported without service.
