A former Fort St. John travel agent appeared in court today in Fort St. John for an arraignment hearing on charges that she defrauded her clients out of thousands of dollars.

Linda Gentles faces 3 charges of breach of undertaking or recognizance, 11 charges of unauthorized use of credit card data, and 4 charges of obtaining credit by false pretenses. The charges are related to a credit card scam Gentles was allegedly operating out of a local travel agency.

At her hearing, Gentles asked for additional time to retain counsel. The presiding judge also stated that Gentles’ trial presented a difficulty for the courts, as many of the judges who hear cases in Fort St. John have disqualified themselves from the trial.

Gentles will return to court November 19.
