Power Almost Restored following Wind Storm Monday

Power should be restored to the remaining homes in the Peace Country tonight, following a strong wind storm yesterday.

As we first reported Sunday night, there were several power outages in the North Peace beginning at around 5:30pm. The outages were caused by strong winds that knocked down power lines. The majority of the customers without power had it restored by 2am this morning. The rest, about 400 had it restored by 3pm today.

Bob Gammer with BC Hydro says the reason it took so long was the fact that crews are only allowed to work a certain amount of time.

There are still about 6 customers without power at this time and Hydro hopes to have everything back up by this evening.
