Alberta Youth Curfew

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Fort St. John City Council now has an Alberta reference point if it chooses to pursue the possibility of implementing a youth curfew.

Those under the age of sixteen will not be allowed to roam the streets of Ponoka after 11:00 p.m. Those caught out after the deadline may initially be warned by police to head home, but if they refuse they could get a trip back to their house in a police cruiser. In addition, first time offenders risk a one hundred dollar fine and, it will double for a second or subsequent offence.

The bylaw does not apply to youths who are out in public due to jobs or volunteer work, or who are returning home from an organized recreational activity or other event supervised by an adult.
