EnCana Events Centre victim's name released

Dawson Creek RCMP have released the name of the 28-year old man who died after an assault at the EnCana Events Centre Valentine's Day. Jason Patrick Foster, a Fort St. John resident formerly from Manitoba, was at the Hedley concert on February 14, 2012 when he and another male were assaulted by a group of young males.

After an incident involving spilled beer, the three suspects, also Fort St. John residents aged 18 to 20, assaulted the pair. The assault continued into the bathroom until a civilian broke it up.

Foster was found unconscious and later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

The three assailants were arrested later at a drinking establishment and have since been released. As charges are pending, their names cannot be released, along with the cause of death.

Dawson Creek RCMP are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact the Dawson Creek RCMP Detachment at 250-784-3700 or to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
