Tea CreekCanada, 2024 • Dir. Ryan Dickie
“Tea Creek” is a heartfelt and visually rich documentary set on a 140-acre farm in Kitwanga, British Columbia, where Indigenous food sovereignty activist Jacob Beaton has turned a humble family homestead into a thriving training centre. The film follows Jacob and his team through a full growing season as they cultivate thousands of pounds of produce, teach land-based food skills, and build space for healing and cultural renewal. Against the backdrop of the climate crisis and the long-lasting effects of colonization, Tea Creek becomes more than a farm — it’s a sacred place for community members to reconnect with the land, learn, heal, and reclaim Indigenous agricultural traditions. By weaving individual journeys with the broader history of Indigenous resilience, the film offers a powerful and uplifting portrait of how Indigenous food sovereignty can be a path toward cultural regeneration and collective empowerment.
