DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — Firefighters in Dawson Creek say one person was taken to hospital for burn injuries after a structure fire occurred last Friday.

The Dawson Creek Fire Department was dispatched just before 7:00 p.m. on April 19th, to a fire at the Pioneer Cove Mobile Home Park.

Fire Chief Marcel Capelle says the fire was at one of the mobile homes in the park, with two RVs parked next to it.

“I’m not certain if [the person who was burned] was living in the RVs or if they were living in the mobile home,” Capelle said.

According to a Facebook post from the fire department, the burn victim is now in stable condition.

After firefighters arrived, Capelle says they were able to get the blaze under control fairly quickly.

“We arrived at [6:57 p.m.], and we left the scene at [8:31 p.m.], so I guess that would be an hour and a half on the scene,” Capelle said.

“Quick actions from the responding firefighters knocked down the fire and eliminated it from spreading to nearby other trailers in the trailer park.”

According to Capelle, the cause of the fire isn’t believed to be suspicious and is still under investigation.
