Dawson Creek RCMP search for culprit in stolen truck incident

Dawson Creek RCMP is searching for an individual who allegedly stole a pickup truck on March 20th.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — Dawson Creek RCMP is searching for an individual who allegedly stole a pickup truck in Beaverlodge on March 20th.

According to Constable Emma Baron of the Dawson Creek RCMP, police located the stolen pickup truck at Tempo Gas Bar located at 17th Street and Alaska Avenue in Dawson Creek at approximately 4 a.m. on March 25th.

Upon approaching the still-running truck, officers noticed a firearm, and the driver was said to be “asleep at the wheel.”

The driver was startled when he awoke and, as a result, reversed into the retaining wall behind the vehicle before barrelling into three police cruisers.

RCMP declined further pursuit, determining it to be a risk to public safety.

Police were then notified of two separate reports — one of an abandoned vehicle matching the description of the stolen pickup and another report of an injured male matching the suspect’s profile later that morning.

No police or citizens were injured during the incident, and the suspect remains at large.
