FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The North Peace Pregnancy Care Centre is moving and is looking for help getting everything from its old office space to its new location.

Linda Unrau, the executive director of the North Peace Pregnancy Care Centre, said they are moving to a new location at 9912 100th Avenue from the third floor of Pioneer Square at 9900 100th Avenue.

The nonprofit is putting a call out to the community for volunteers to help them move on Thursday, September 28th, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

“We’re gonna be disassembling our desks, moving our furniture, and then the boxes, of course, the files and filing cabinets,” Unrau said.

“We’re moving literally down the elevator, down to the street level and then down like three units.”

Unrau said they are relocating for a couple of different reasons, including ease of access for their clients and safety because they will have two exits instead of only one.

The centre’s team was also concerned about the nature of the Fort St. John Mental Health and Addictions services located in Pioneer Square. The executive director said in the last year, they’ve seen an increase in “more dangerous people” in the hallways and elevators they share with the services.

“We get broken glass on the floor, and when we have toddlers and babies that might be crawling on floors, it’s not very safe for us,” Unrau said.

The pregnancy care centre will start operating out of its new location on October 2nd.

Also beginning on October 2nd is the Baby Bottle Fundraiser, which runs until November 5th.
