HUDSON’S HOPE, B.C. — The outdoor pool in Hudson’s Hope opens Saturday after closing three times last year due to repairs and issues with the district’s water treatment plant.
Earlier this year, the district received $187,500 from the Northern Development Initiative Trust (NDIT) to repair the outdoor pool.
According to the NDIT, the project included the replacement of the pool liner, floor membrane, floor inlets and gutters to restore the outdoor pool.
Last summer, the pool was closed due to ongoing water treatment plant issues.
After over a year of boil water notices and do not consume orders due to constant issues with the town’s water treatment plant, the district announced its plan to return to river-sourced water late in 2022, with McElhanney as its engineering consultant.
An open house held by the district outlined the plant and water sources plans, including the multi-phase plan of reverting to river water and the talks with BC Hydro.
Earlier in May, the district asked residents to limit water usage to essential use only.
For any questions or concerns, the district can be reached at 250-783-9901, and the pool can be reached at 250-783-9913.
