DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) has agreed to provide a grant to Dawson Creek for the 2023 National U18 Women’s Hockey Championship.

The PRRD agreed to give the city a grant of $100,000 for the championships to be hosted in Dawson Creek.

Initially, the event was supposed to be held in 2020 but was ultimately cancelled and rescheduled due to COVID-19 restrictions, and the funds were then returned to the PRRD.

The city was recently awarded the bid to hold the games this year and requested that the unused funds be released back to the city to support the event.

The PRRD agreed to grant Dawson Creek the funding for the event at their meeting on February 2nd.
