FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – DGS Astro Paving of Fort St. John was awarded the 2022 lanes and parking lot tender for almost $1,500,000 during a council meeting on Monday.
The work includes the construction and paving of the north and south lanes between 104th and 105th avenues and the connection to 100th street, the north and south lanes between 102nd and 103rd avenues east of 100th street, and the east and west lane between 101st and 102nd avenues west of 98th street.
Also included are the storm sewer installation and repair on the north and south lanes between 101st and 102nd avenues and upgrades to the storm sewer system at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Parking lot construction will also take place on the east end of Toboggan Hill off 106th avenue.
Construction and paving will also be done on the lane between the Kids Field House and the Curling Rink.
Two other companies put bids out: one out of La Crete, Alberta, and the other was also out of Fort St. John.
After discussions with the companies and suppliers, the city decided to purchase PVC pipe before tender to reduce costs. The pipe purchased went towards these projects and others.
Based on the lowest bid from DGS Astro Paving, the city says they will have a surplus amount and that the projects are expected to be completed within their budgeted amounts.
