FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The City of Fort St. John will be participating in Pitch-in Week from April 18th-24th and is inviting residents to sign up.
Pitch-in Week is a national program that looks to encourage Canadians to participate in community clean-up programs as well as other education or action activities.
Residents can register themselves or a group to collect trash that’s accumulated in public spaces throughout the city.
“The City of Fort St. John is committed to providing opportunities that contribute to and enhance the quality of life of the community. City staff liaise with community organizations and work to support, assist, and coordinate spirit through community beautification,” the application form reads.
“Pitch-in Week is the perfect opportunity to get involved. Help pick up the trash collected in our favourite spots, in our parks and on our streets!” the city said on their Facebook event page.
The City of Dawson Creek will be hosting a similar community clean-up event for local non-profits looking to give back to their community. Once the non-profit completes cleaning its assigned area, it will receive a $200 honorarium.
